Polish midfielder Piotr Zielinski looks all set to join Liverpool from Serie A club Udinese this summer, and the deal could be completed as early as this Wednesday.
According to Polish newspaper Przeglad Sportowy, Liverpool are close to finalising a deal for Zielinski after reports emerged earlier this month that the Reds had tabled a £12m bid for the 21-year-old midfielder.
Liverpool and Zielinski’s representatives have been holding talks and are said to have entered a “crucial phase,” with Udinese likely to allow their hot prospect leave this summer.
Negotiations are reportedly are at an advanced stage and if all things go smoothly he could sign for Liverpool as early as this Wednesday.
The Polish midfielder has impressed in the past two season on loan with Serie A side Empoli, and Jurgen Klopp has earmarked him as one of his primary targets this summer, as the Reds begin their summer recruitment.
Liverpool have been monitoring his progress for some time now with Udinese sporting director Cristiano Giaretta confirming an offer from Liverpool recently:
“There is interest from Liverpool and it is concrete interest,” he said. “He is doing very well and has the eyes of the Premier League on him.”
The player himself has sparked fuel to the transfer speculation by claiming he had been contacted by Liverpool and had spoken with the Reds manager.
“There is a lot of truth in rumours about Liverpool, Jurgen Klopp is interested in me, we had some talks,” he told Polish outlet Sportowe Fakty.
He also was pictured by European broadcaster Canal+ wearing Liverpool colours in May and has time and again underlined his ambition to sign for the club.
Zielinski:”I don’t know my future yet. Klopp is one of the best coaches in world, it would be an honor to work with him at Liverpool”

The attacking midfielder scored five goals and has further assisted six in 35 games for Empoli this season. He will return to Udinese following the end of his loan spell, but Merseyside looks a far more enticing option for him at the moment.
