Manchester United enquired about the possibility of signing Marco Reus from Borussia Dortmund, when negotiating Adnan Januzaj’s loan to the German club, but the Red Devils refused to match the player’s £60m valuation, as per reports from ESPN

The Red Devils are close to signing a striker / forward on Tuesday’s deadline, with  a deal for Monaco’s Anthony Martial being lined up. The 19-year-old has completed his medical and will be presented shortly.

Dortmund wanted a fee in the region of £60m, but the Old Trafford club were only willing to go as far as £50m.

It is indeed baffling that United have agreed to pay 80m for an unproven talent while they were unwilling to pay extra £10m to sign a world class forward.
