Tottenham are set to make a renewed attempt to persuade West Ham to part with star midfielder Scott Parker before tonight’s deadline, according to the Guardian.

Spurs made a £7m bid for Parker earlier in the summer, and it was flatly rejected by the Hammers. At the time, club co-owner David Sullivan stated that he’d promised the supporters that he wouldn’t sell Parker and that the former Charlton star was ‘not for sale at any price’.

That stance likely hasn’t softened, but if the reports are true, that won’t deter Tottenham from at least testing West Ham’s resolve by submitting a new bid for Parker. And as per the reports, Spurs could include surplus striker Robbie Keane to enhance their chances.

Yesterday, it was confirmed by West Ham manager Avram Grant that Keane is a target, and an improved cash offer that also includes the Republic of Ireland star could at the very least make the Hammers think, at the very least, given their early-season struggles with finding the back of the net.

That being said, it would seem that any efforts by Tottenham will be for naught, given Sullivan’s previous stance on Parker and that West Ham don’t have their backs against the wall in regards to his contract, as Parker has three years left on his current contract with a new five-year deal waiting to be signed. However, Spurs can hold out hope, given their ability to offer Parker Champions League football as he nears 30, and it can’t be ruled out that opportunity could turn his head if Spurs do make a serious move before the deadline.
