Tottenham Hotspur have been one of the more consistent teams in the Premier League this season. Mauricio Pochettino’s Spurs haven’t lost a game since the opening day loss at Manchester United, and are well set to continue their unbeaten run beyond the current calendar year.

Spurs are currently fifth in the league table, two points behind fourth-place Arsenal and four points behind league leaders Manchester City. They could be in the reckoning for the title should they continue their good run of form, and their round of fixtures in December offer plenty reasons to be optimistic.

Tottenham 2015-16 November Results

Tottenham 3-1 Aston Villa

Tottenham 2-1 Anderlecht

Arsenal 1-1 Tottenham

Tottenham 4-1 West Ham

Qarabag 0-1 Tottenham

Tottenham 0-0 Chelsea

Spurs continued their unbeaten Premier League run throughout November, and were the better team against both Arsenal and Chelsea. They also progressed relatively comfortably through their Europa League group and have almost secured their place in the knockout phase as the group winners.

Tottenham 2015-16 December Fixtures

Premier League: West Brom v Tottenham / 05 December 2015

Europa League: Tottenham v Monaco / 10 December 2015

Premier League: Tottenham v Newcastle / 13 December 2015

Premier League: Southampton v Tottenham / 19 December 2015

Premier League: Tottenham v Norwich / 26 December 2015

Premier League: Watford v Tottenham / 28 December 2015

December is a relatively straightforward month for Spurs with only the game against Southampton somewhat challenging on paper. They start off the month with a trip to the Hawthorns against a hot and cold Baggies side, and anything other than three points will be considered points dropped for Pochettino’s men.

Thursday night’s Europa League clash with Monaco is of academic interest for Spurs and they could be seen fielding a team of youngsters and fringe players. Monaco must win to have any chance of progressing further, and an under-strength Spurs side could play into their hands.

Next up is a league game against strugglers Newcastle at White Hart Lane which should be a cakewalk before the Lilywhites travel to St Mary’s to face the Saints. The corresponding fixture last season ended in an entertaining 2-2 draw, and a similar result could not be ruled out.

Spurs’ busy December ends with two games against newly-promoted sides Norwich and Watford. Two wins from two is the expectation, but a draw at Watford’s Vicarage Road just two days after the Norwich game on Boxing day wouldn’t go amiss.
