Jose Mourinho has always maintained that he will continue to give chances to young players in the side, provided they’re good enough to represent Chelsea at the senior levels.
Good news for the Chelsea fans. Academy product Todd Kane has signed a new contract, the club announced on Monday. The full-back has put pen to papers on a deal that will keep him at the club till 2017/18.
The 21-year-old was one of the key players at the U-21 level for Chelsea, and has been an important member of Chelsea’s vast expanding loan army.
He has had loan spells at Preston, Blackburn, Bristol City and Nottingham Forest already, so expect him to ply trade at other English club on loan, at least for the next couple of years, before he is ready to play for Chelsea.
Chelsea meanwhile are looking to sign a new full-back following the departure of Filipe Luis to Atletico Madrid. If the reports are to be believed, the Blues are looking to sign Augsburg’s highly rated young left-back Abdul Rahman Baba.
