Premier League clubs have spend over £870m and smashed the transfer records once again in the summer transfer window.

If we compare the money with other league, most notably Serie A and La Liga, they do not come anywhere near to comparison.

Of the total money spend, the breakdown of this expenditure saw £585million being spent on overseas talents, £210million within the Premier League and £75million on Football League players.

The summer has also seen some of the finest young players in the world moving to new clubs, for instance Raheem Sterling, Memphis Depay and Anthony Martial.

EA Sports Player Performance Index have carried on a study of top 7 Premier League under 21 stars, and there is a good news for Manchester United fans.

Three U-21 players from Manchester United – Luke Shaw, Anthony Martial, and Memphis Depay – feature in the top 7 list.

Ross Barkley made his Premier League debut in 2011 for Everton and since then he has been a regular England international. And one gets the feel this could be his breakthrough season and big things are expected of him.

With two goals already, seven shots on target, three assists to his name, and 16 dribbles completed, Barkley has come of age.

It also shows that homegrown talent can be effective than those big money signings.

Barkley, along with other rising stars like Lukaku and Stones, are pivotal for Everton, if they’re to finish in top four this season.

Plus, Barkley’s impressive form is a good news for England camp, as hopes on him will be high for the Euro 2016.

Talking about England, Roy Hodgson will be happy to check this stat: four of this top performing U21’s are all English, a reason to feel optimistic about.

There is a common saying that History repeats itself. What Sir Alex Ferguson did with young kids back in ’92, and later with Ronaldo-Rooney-& co, it seems United are following the same tradition under Louis van Gaal.

The current league leaders have three representatives in the top 7 list.

Depay and Martial have settled in nicely, but unfortunately Shaw’s bright start to the season has been halted after he suffered a serious leg-breaking injury that will force him out for the rest of the year.
