Stoke City have rejected an offer from Swansea for the Trinidad and Tobago striker Kenwyne Jones.

Swansea City are looking for a replacement for Danny Graham, who is increasingly becoming unsettled at the Liberty Stadium. Manager Michael Laudrup was interested in signing Kenwyne Jones before letting Graham leave the club, but now a formal bid has been rejected by Stoke.

Swansea have reportedly made a bid of £2 million (with a further add-on of £1 million), but it didn’t match Stoke City’s valuation of the player who was signed from Sunderland, back in 2010, for £8 million.

Tony Pulis is looking to recover atleast half of what they paid for the 28 year old striker. But according to reports Swansea are unlikely to return with an improved bid.

Stoke City are looking to sell some of their players to provide Tony Pulis with funds for his transfer targets this month. Even though Kenwyne Jones has been in good form off-late, Stoke are open to offers for the striker, as they are for Palacios, Upson and Pennant.

Manager Tony Pulis has stated that they will do business if they deem it is right for the player and the football club.

Pulis was quoted in press:

“We will decide what is right for the football club and the players.

“We always take everything into consideration at this football club, and if it is right for the players and the football club, we will do business.

If not, then we’ll get on with things.”

Swansea on the other hand are looking to add more options upfront with Danny Graham looking for a move away from the club. The English striker has been limited to minified role in the squad this season, despite impressing for them last season.

Graham hasn’t got along too well with new Swansea manager Michael Laudrup. The Danish manager has preferred Michu in the role of a striker this season and the Spaniard has been in prolific form so far.

QPR, Norwich City, Reading, Sunderland and Newcastle United have all been linked with a move for Danny Graham. The Englishman reportedly preferring a move to the Northeast of England, a place near to his home.

But Swansea are unlikely to let go of the striker if they don’t find a replacement for him and their first attempt at doing so (in the form of Kenwyne Jones) has failed.
