Sterling’s move to Manchester City in the summer was a move met with scoffs of football fans and pundits alike.

A turbulent last season at Liverpool saw the winger look for a move elsewhere, however, when Manchester City swooped for the 20-year-old with a £49-million offer, many questioned if he worth the price tag.

The pressure of such a big price tag for the Liverpool youngster would make his move to Manchester City the greatest challenge of his career.

Manuel’ Pellegrini’s side has started their league campaign in fantastic fashion, leading the Premier League with seven wins from nine matches.

The class of the Manchester City squad has been immense so far this season as their superstars continually show why they are amongst the best players in the world.

As players like Kevin De Bruyne, Yaya Toure and Sergio Aguero perform week in and week out for the Sky Blues, it encourages other players to step into the spotlight.

Raheem Sterling, however, has been inconsistent for his new side so far. The former Liverpool player has shown glimpses of his quality but amongst City’s stars he has been more of a squad member than a standout. That was until last round.

The 20-year-old took a step forward in silencing his critics with as he netted his first senior hat-trick in City’s five one demolishing of the newly promoted Bournemouth.

Sterling’s hat-trick was the first time the winger looked truly at home amongst the City squad as stole the show with his clinical finishing and blistering pace.

Despite the expectation that came Sterling’s price tag, the winger took a valuable step forward in showing his worth in this City squad. If he can keep this quality consistent, the 20-year-old Englishman could become one of the biggest superstars for City fans to get excited about.

Since Sterling broke into the Liverpool starting eleven, Raheem Sterling showed all the signs of being a standout player. The youngster’s development was helped by playing alongside the sharpshooting duo of Suarez and Sturridge.

The 20-year-old quickly became a household name for Liverpool fans, but unfortunately, his last season at Liverpool saw him shoulder the responsibility of the team’s success as Sturridge was injured and Suarez moved on to Barcelona.

Yet, in making this transition from Liverpool to City, Sterling gave himself the opportunity to become a superstar in a very talent squad. However, the winger must ensure he is consistent if he is to become a superstar in this Manchester City squad.

Sterling’s pace and newfound clinical ability can be key for his consistent performances as he plays in front of the City midfield. If he can also utilise and learn from Sergio Aguero as he did with Luis Suarez, the 20-year-old will catapult himself into the world-class winger ranks.

With the talent of the Manchester City alongside him, Sterling will continually develop as a player. However, if the youngster can keep the form of the weekend consistently, his hat-trick against Bournemouth will be only the start of his 2015/16 highlight reel.
