Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur are struggling this season but this has not deterred them from making moves in the transfer market. According to a report in the British tabloid The Daily Mirror, Spurs are looking forward to signing Glen Johnson and Stephen Appiah in January.
Johnson plays for Portsmouth and has been in a great form so far this season. He is also said to foster a very good relationship with Spurs manager Harry Redknapp, who was earlier at Pompey. So it seems that Redknapp would try and lure the 24-year old England international to join him at Spurs and help strengthen the north London club.
Spurs have also been linked with the Ghanian international Steven Appiah. Appiah is currently a free agent now but has kept himself free. It was reported that Spurs had tried to sign him in the summer on a free transfer but were turned off by his apparently high wage demands.
Appiah has since been linked with a number of clubs in Europe, including Parma and Juventus in Italy. But so far nothing concrete has materialized and it appears that Spurs would like to try their luck with the midfielder once again in January.
But Spurs have been linked with a number of players and it is not probable that they would be able to sign too many of them. While Johnson would love to continue at Portsmouth given that Pompey are going strong this season, Appiah might not be too tempted to play for a club that might not even play UEFA Cup football next season.
