Barcelona are now on the verge of completing the signing of Sevilla defender Clement Lenglet. He is expected to be their first signing of the 2018 summer transfer window.
As per the information gathered by Spanish source SPORT, Barcelona’s deal in signing Clement Lengelt was held due to minor details, which is why there was the delay in the announcement from their end. The deal can be made official in the next few hours.
According to SPORT, Sevilla decided to make a counter offer so that Clement Lenglet can reject Barcelona and stay with them. His contract at the Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán Stadium will expire in 2021.
But, Clement Lenglet is no longer interested in staying at Sevilla and be a part of their new project under Pablo Machin. The French defender is ready to take the next big step in his career and join Barcelona in the summer transfer window.
Sevilla defender Clement Lenglet will join Barcelona and they will pay his release clause, which will be 30 million euros. As per the information gathered by SPORT, Barcelona may decide not to pay his release clause.
Instead, they may take the option of giving Sevilla for money, if they allow them to pay Clement Lenglet’s transfer fee in several installments. If the second option has been selected, then Barcelona will pay Sevilla 35 million euros.
Barcelona decided to sign Clement Lenglet from Sevilla in July and not in June because that will allow them to include him in the balance sheet of 2018-19 season. Clement Lenglet will be the third choice defender behind Gerard Pique and Samuel Umtiti at Barcelona.
After signing Clement Lenglet, Barcelona will sign Arthur. He will be the second signing of the summer transfer window.
