With the January transfer window set to open in a matter of days, Liverpool are now being linked with almost every goalkeeper all over Europe. The Reds have been linked with Neto, Mattia Perin, Guillermo Ochoa over the past weeks and today’s reports from Italian media outlet TMW claims that the Anfield side are ready to rekindle their interest in Argentina’s World Cup star Sergio Romero.
Romero had hardly featured for Sampdoria this season and had also been linked with Manchester United in the summer. It now appears that the 27 year old is set to leave the Italian shores and pursue his career elsewhere.
Romero’s agent, Mino Raiola has a good connection with Liverpool having engineered a summer move for his client Mario Balotelli. TMW have cited another Media outlet The Corriere Mercantile saying that Raiola is working on Romero’s transfer very quickly. However, there is a huge surprise that Manchester City are also interested. Its unbelievable how the reigning Premier League Champions are in the hunt of a goalkeeper.
Recently Jose Hart signed a contract extension with the Citizens till 2019 while they also signed Willy Caballero from Malaga in the summer. Thus it can be more or less assumed that a goalkeeper is not a priority for Manchester City in January.
Manchester United too are interested to sign Victor Valdes, having allowed the former Barcelona star to train with them at Carrington. Thus Liverpool would be the clear favourites to sign the player. Only time will give an apt answer.
