Samir Nasri has spoken to French channel Canal Plus about his fears on missing out on a place in the World Cup squad.

The Man City star was hit with a three match ban by the French Football Federation for his behaviour at Euro 2012, where he aimed a foul mouthed rant at a journalist, repeatedly calling him a “son of a bitch” amidst complains about the French media. Reported on at the time by BBC Sport, the clash occurred when the midfielder was asked how he felt about the 2-0 loss to Spain. It is because of this he has fallen out of favour with coach Deschamps, and was overlooked in a friendly squad against Holland in March.

Speaking after just clinching the title with Man City for a second time, the ex-Arsenal star has claimed he will be watching the tournament on TV whilst on holiday.

“I’ll go on holiday and watch the World Cup on TV,” Nasri told Canal Plus. After achieving such success with Man City and scoring in the final game of the season, he aimed a sly attack at French manager Didier Deschamps. “If starting games in a club like Manchester City and winning two titles isn’t enough, too bad, I won’t regret anything.”

The 26 year old has been rejuvenated under new manager Pellegrini. He has recaptured his best form this season hitting 12 goals, including a vital goal against West Ham to win the title at the Etihad on the final day of the season. If he misses the World Cup because of the incident at Euro 12, it will be a shame for their National side because he is a player who is playing some of his best football at the moment.

These thoughts are echoed by his manager Pellegrini who feels Nasri should definitely be be playing in Brazil. After the win over West Ham he urged for France not to make a big mistake in leaving him out of the tournament.

The manager of France hasn’t said about the list, but I can’t believe Samir Nasri won’t be in it because he was one of the best players in the Premier League and very important for our squad”.
