Chelsea will travel to Etihad Stadium to face Manchester City while Liverpool will visit Arsenal at the Emirates in the fifth round of the FA Cup.
The Blues manager Jose Mourinho has expressed that his side has been given the perfect FA Cup draw. So far, City have been ruthless at home, having won all of their home matches thus far, beating big teams like Liverpool, Manchester United, Arsenal and Spurs at ease.
The Chelsea manager said as quoted in The Mirror:
“It’s good for us, very good. Our priority for the season is to improve. The best way to improve is with difficult things.
“So now we play against the best team, twice in 15 days, in their stadium, the stadium where they win every game and smash every team, score four or five goals every game even against the big teams like Arsenal and Tottenham and United.
“It’s a good thing for us. If we lose, we lose against the best. If we don’t lose, it’s fantastic. It’s good. It’s a good draw.”
Chelsea, courtesy of a brilliant free-kick, earned a 1-0 victory yesterday against Stoke City at the Bridge. Mourinho was quick to play the mind games insisted the pressure will be on Manuel Pellegrini’s men.
The Portuguese further added that they have “nothing to lose” while claimed that they are “the best team by far” and would go to Etihad and “enjoy” their game.
Meanwhile, Liverpool will face Everton at Anfield on Tuesday in the Merseyside derby, where midfielder Jordan Henderson says the Reds have a strong mentality to finish in the top four.
“It would be an achievement to finish in the top four. We’re always looking to improve and that would be a massive improvement on last season. That’s our aim and hopefully we can go far in this competition as well,” Henderson said.
“I can’t wait for the derby. It’s a game everybody is really looking forward to. A couple of days rest and recover and ready for Tuesday.
“I’ve been here quite a long time now and I feel at home and I want to be emotionally attached to Liverpool and want to do my best for the club and don’t want to lose, especially in derbies.”
Liverpool currently 4th in the table are just one point ahead of Roberto Martinez’ men. A victory for the Reds will take them four points ahead of their derby rivals at this stage of the season.
