Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny is set to be unveiled as a Roma player later today.
The Gunners have agreed a deal with the Italian giants which will see Roma loan the player for another season. The Serie A side also have the option to sign him permanently for a fee of 13.4 million pounds next summer according to Mail.
Gianluca Di Marzio has confirmed that an agreement is reached between all parties and the Polish keeper will arrive in Rome today morning. Szczesny will be unveiled as a Roma player after completing his medical at the Italian capital today.
The Polish international will then join Spalletti’s team in the pre-season preparations.
Petr Cech has had an excellent debut season at Arsenal and it is highly unlikely that the former Chelsea star will be replaced for another 2-3 seasons. Therefore a permanent move away from Arsenal is the best option for Szczesny.
It remains to be seen if Roma decide to sign him permanently.
For now, the loan move is an ideal option. Szczesny was Roma’s first choice keeper last season and should get plenty of first team action once again this year.
