Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers is convinced that Emre Can will become a world class midfielder in future, after the German midfielder helped the reds earn a 2-0 win over Burnley at Anfield on Wednesday night.
Stand in skipper Jordan Henderson opened the scoring for Liverpool with a thunder strike, before turning out as provider for Daniel Sturridge in the second half.
Can continued his impressive progress and received words of praise from the Liverpool manager.
“If you give Emre another couple of years, he could play in any team in world football,” said the Reds boss as quoted by Liverpool Echo. “That’s how highly I rate him.
“Playing at the back he is strong, aggressive and fast. He moves the ball well and can move into midfield, and whether central or out wide you can see his intelligence.
“Emre can break through lines with his power and pace and has great composure.
“You can see from the response of the crowd that they love him. He does the dirty work as well. He doesn’t just play and look nice, he presses the ball and is aggressive.
“I feel he will develop into a world-class player.”
Liverpool, courtesy of the victory retain the fifth place, just two points behind Manchester United in fourth and further one behind Arsenal in third.
Having won nine of their last 11 games, the Reds are riding high with momentum and with 10 games remaining, Liverpool will fancy their chances for top four finish.
Can is developing into a fine prospect and is highly rated in Germany – there are high chances he could become a world class talent in future.
