Rio Ferdinand has revealed that Vincent Kompany’s injury will be a major boost for Manchester United ahead of the derby this weekend.
Kompany picked up a calf injury against Dynamo Kiev in the Champions League last night and is expected to be out of the Manchester derby. Argentine defender Nicolas Otamendi is a major doubt as well.
Despite Manchester United’s poor form right now, Ferdinand claims that the Old Trafford outfit will be full of confidence going into this one.
“They have got United at the weekend. United players will be licking their lips at the two centre backs that came on.”
Kompany has been invaluable for Manchester City over the years. The Belgian defender is not just their best defender, he also helps other players play well. Furthermore, his leadership and organisational skills will be a huge miss in a derby.
Manchester City have struggled at the back without their inspirational leader and it is not looking good for them with the Manchester derby coming up and their position in the title race.
