If reports emanating from France are to be believed, Falcao’s stay at the principality will be more of a sojourn; with Chelsea cranking up the pressure on Monaco to sell their prized asset only months after the striker landed on the southern coast of France.

French newspaper, Le10 Sport’s latest report points to the potential implementation of France’s new tax laws, which Monaco initially thought they would be exempt from, forcing the French club’s hand in having to unload some of the financial weight they accrued over the summer.

Rumours concerning a potential Chelsea move for the Colombian international have peppered the front pages of sports papers well before his move to France.

Now, Le10 say that not only will Chelsea attempt to finally put an end to the saga with a close to world-record bid for the 28-year-old; but they will also throw in Fernando Torres to placate matters even further.

It remains to be seen whether the Spanish striker would be willing to make the impromptu switch; but the chance of a change in scenery could be tempting for the 29-year-old.

Here at Soccerlens, we reported Chelsea boss Mourinho’s scouting mission to watch Falcao earlier this month, and discussed whether or not the super-striker would be a good fit at the Bridge.

This latest development takes us a step further down the line in the saga of the Monaco striker; but one feels that there will be many more twists and turns until this matter is resolved, as potential tax laws loom large over the Principality.
