There has been wide-spread speculation regarding the Dutch Legend taking over at Old Trafford in the summer, but United have been unwilling to name Van Gaal before the season comes to an end.
We had reported last week that the 62 year old had expressed his desire to manage the Red Devils, saying he would relish the challenge of managing the club.
United have had a disastrous season, and will be absent from European competition for the first time in 26 years next season, having failed to catch Tottenham for a Europa League spot.
With United out of Champions League next season, Van Gaal may find it tough to attract players from the upper echelons of European football, but with his experience and cult status wherever he has plied his trade, United fans can expect a major revamp for the next campaign.
