Are Real Madrid plotting to pair Falcao and Suarez?

Suarez

Batistuta and Crespo, Ronaldo and Rivaldo, great international South American strike partnerships of modern times. Real Madrid seemingly want to create their own at club level.

Carlo Ancelotti could make swoops in the next two transfer windows for Liverpool’s Uruguayan striker Luis Suarez and £50 million Colombian hitman Radamel Falcao of AS Monaco.

Suarez, 26, reportedly wanted to leave Liverpool in the summer as controversy has dogged an otherwise stellar Premier League career.

Allegations of racism towards Manchester United left back Patrice Evra and biting Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic have not deterred Real from coveting Suarez.

Having sold Gonzalo Higuain to Napoli in the summer, Madrid incumbent Karim Benzema is struggling in front of goal. A return of two from eight games has been derided as paltry in some sections of the Spanish media.

Recently returning from the length ban picked up for the Ivanovic incident, Suarez meanwhile is back scoring for Brendan Rodgers’s Reds.

falcao

Falcao, 27, has also hit the ground running in the French Ligue 1 with seven in nine for newly promoted Monaco. That hefty price paid to Atletico Madrid does not appear to weigh heavily at all.

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez dropped his biggest hint yet that he will bring Falcao back to the Spanish capital on Monday night.

“He won’t come in January but in June, who knows?” said Perez of Falcao.

“Nothing is impossible and there is a lot of time between now and then.

“Falcao is a great player and I am aware he wants to play for Madrid.”

So does Suarez.

Add the world’s current most expensive footballers Gareth Bale and Cristiano Ronaldo, and you have a front four which is beyond frightening.

The likes of Angel Di Maria and even summer signing Isco could then easily be moved on.

It would probably take in excess of £100 million for Real to get both Falcao and Suarez, but money is no object.

What spurs Madrid to such monstrous spending is desperation to well and truly break the dominion of El Clasico rivals Barcelona.
