Beware Manchester United and Manchester City. It is always an alarming sign when Real Madrid join the race to sign any of the players you’re targeting.
Eliaquim Mangala, the highly rated French defender has had a terrific season under his belt. As a result of which, the 23-year-old will fly to Brazil to represent his nation in the World Cup. And should he performs well, expect top European clubs to jump on him (not literally) in the summer to sign him.
Regular readers of Soccerlens might be knowing that we’ve been covering the Mangala transfer saga for a long time. The highly rated French defender is a reported target of Manchester City and Manchester United.
Even last month Portuguese press speculated that Mangala could land in either of the two Premier League clubs, with Manchester United favourite to get his signature, as City might struggle to match his €45-50m transfer fee, due to their Financial Fair play restrictions.
However, Spanish newspaper El Confidencial reports today that Real Madrid have joined the race as well, with Perez has had discussions with his board members about the possibility of signing him.
The news emerging is that Madrid are not willing to pay such a high amount, as they value him around €30m mark. Well, if Madrid comes calling, it will take fraction of second to turn Mangala’s head around.
No official bid has been made and expect the interested parties to move for him in the summer definitely.
