Manchester United are in talks with the agent of Real Madrid playmaker James Rodriguez.

The Colombian joined Real Madrid last season and has fallen out with manager Rafa Benitez.

Rodriguez has not been at his best due to injuries and lack of recovery time this season. The attacking midfielder has been criticised for his decision to play for his national team.

It is believed that Rafa Benitez is prepared to offer more first team chances to Isco and James Rodriguez is not happy with the situation.

Rodriguez was one of Real Madrid’s best players last season and managed to replace the outgoing winger Angel Di Maria without any issues.

Manchester United are looking to sign a creative and pacey winger and the player’s agent Jorge Mendes has informed the Old Trafford outfit that Rodriguez could be available in the summer.

Louis Van Gaal has previously been vocal about his side’s lack of world class attackers and James Rodriguez would be the perfect addition.

The Golden boot winner in the World Cup can operate in a number of positions and is equally good at creating chances and scoring goals.

Whether it is just a rumour or a ploy to force the manager into reevaluating his decision remains to be seen. However it Manchester United do manage to pull it off, James would be an outstanding addition to their side.

The Colombian is a world class player and could help bridge the gap between United and their cross-town rivals Manchester City.
