This summer promises to be a cracker. When Manchester United and Real Madrid are involved in a transfer tug of war, there can hardly be any room for boredom, isn’t it?

The David de Gea transfer saga is the main focal point, but United are also interested in other Madrid galacticos – Gareth Bale, Karim Benzema, Varane and Ronaldo as well.

Yesterday, Mexican striker Javier Hernandez gave an interview with Marca, where he said his agent is trying to sort out a permanent switch to Real Madrid, but at the same time has admitted that he wishes to play for Manchester United next season.

Real Madrid had passed the option of signing Hernandez permanently last season, with Madrid hierarchy wanted to evaluate his situation in the summer. Hernandez got limited opportunities last season at Madrid, but he impressed with his performances, whenever he was asked to carry out a job. He served as a good back up striker, and there was a strong feeling that Madrid could keep him at the club.

Spanish newspaper AS however claim today that Madrid have clearly stated that they do not have any interest in Hernandez.

As it stands, Hernandez is facing an uncertain future at the club. He is not wanted by Madrid, and probably he doesn’t feature in Van Gaal’s plans as well.

Hernandez mentioned in his interview that he would join a club that would provide him regular game time. Southampton were reportedly interested in him, and it remains to be seen whether the Saints make any formal move for him or not.
