Rangers are interested in signing Sheffield United midfielder John Lundstram on a free transfer this summer.

According to the Sheffield Star, Lundstram’s contract at Bramall Lane expires this month, and he wants to quit the club.

The former Everton midfielder has done well in the Premier League and could prove to be a quality addition to Steven Gerrard’s midfield.

He will probably have offers to stay in the Premier League, and it is unclear whether he would be willing to move to Scotland.

Rangers can offer him European football next season, which could prove to be tempting for the versatile midfielder.

The Scottish outfit need more depth in their squad as they embark on their defence of the Scottish Premiership title.

Signing Lundstram on a free transfer could prove to be a masterstroke, and Rangers will be keen to get the deal done when his contract expires on June 30.

The Blades have been relegated to the Championship and it is unlikely that Lundstram will sign an extension with them.

Burnley have also been linked with Lundstram, and their interest could scupper Rangers’ hopes of securing his services.
