The mass exodus at Manchester United continues. Rafael Da Silva is all set to leave Old Trafford, and sign a four year deal with French club Lyon this week.
According to reports from The Times, the Brazil defender will be joining the French club in a £2.1m deal. He will become the sixth high profile departure at Manchester United this summer.
The 25-year-old defender joined United from Fluminense along with his twin brother Fabio in 2007. Sir Alex Ferguson expected big things from both of them, but the duo failed to live up to the expectations.
Rafael’s career at United has been marred with injuries, while managers (post Ferguson) have been skeptical over his defensive capabilities.
To add insult to the injury, Louis van Gaal opted to trust Antonio Valencia, a winger, more at the right back instead. United have signed Matteo Darmian this summer from Torino which basically sealed Rafael’s fate at the club.
Meanwhile, Angel di Maria is all set to leave the club to join PSG. The Argentine winger was spotted in Doha where he would complete his medical ahead of his transfer move to the French champions. The Times claim, United would lose £15.6m on the 27-year-old winger, who joined last August from Real Madrid for a British transfer record.
