Rafael Benitez: Robbie Keane Will NOT Leave Liverpool For Tottenham!

Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez has dismissed all transfer reports suggesting that they were contemplating selling striker Robbie Keane to fellow Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur in January.

Keane was signed by Liverpool from Tottenham in the summer of 2008 for 20 million pounds and was expected to be a very crucial player for the Merseyside club. But Keane has struggled for goals and there are reports that the Liverpool fans are frustrated by his lacklustre performance so far.

This led to reports in the British press claiming that Benitez was eager to offload the player back to Spurs for around the same amount. Spurs manager Harry Redknapp was also reported to be eager to welcome back Keane.

But the Spanish has now denied that Liverpool are even thinking of selling Robbie Keane. He expressed his surprise at the rumours and in an interview with The Sun said:

“We don’t want to sell Robbie, so I was surprised when I heard about the rumours. We are not even thinking about selling. It is always tough at the start when you move. And when it is to a top side, that makes it even more difficult. But Robbie has the quality and is working hard, so it is not a problem.

“The key for me is when the team play well. If they do that, Keane will have more chances and he will score more goals.”

So that settles it then. Robbie Keane is NOT moving to Tottenham Hotspur in January.
