Radamel Falcao says he is hoping to make his Manchester United debut against Queens Park Rangers at Old Trafford on September 14.
The Colombian international completed his loan switch from AS Monaco on the deadline day of the summer transfer window. After completing his move to United, the 28-year-old joined his national squad for the friendly fixture against Brazil in Miami.
“I am very happy. I hope to give my team the best and help to bring a lot of goals and victories,” United’s official website quoted Falcao as saying.
“I now leave in a very good condition to join my club and I hope to be available next week. I go to Manchester with lots of hopes to try to win a place in the team and then come back to play for Colombia. It’s better to not over think and let things happen normally instead.”
United have one of the strongest attacking options in the Premier League with the likes of Falcao, Robin van Persie and Wayne Rooney. Louis van Gaal has a tough job in picking the two strikers before the start of every match if all the three players are made available for selection.
It remains to be seen whether the former Barcelona and Bayern Munich manager can start Falcao, Van Persie and Rooney together. Should that happen, the former Atletico Madrid star will play alongside the Dutch international and United skipper will play behind the two strikers.
If Rooney is asked to play the No 10 role, it is likely that David Moyes’ last signing Juan Mata will be dropped to the bench. The other possibility is that if the former Chelsea playmaker starts, it could see either Van Persie or Falcao start from the bench.
