According to reports in English media outlet Mirror, Radamel Falcao is set for crunch talks which could well decide his future at Manchester United. John Cross in his column writes that super agent Jorge Mendes is set to hold talks with the United hierarchy regarding his client’s future at Old Trafford.
The 29 year old Colombian who earns a whopping £265,000-a-week has hardly had the desired impact for the Red Devils. United had paid French side Monaco £6m for the striker’s services for a one year loan and will need to pay a further £44m if they are to sign Falcao on a permanent deal.
However, going by the past few weeks, it is unlikely that United will pay the hefty fee for El Tigre who has disappointed this season. Falcao has just scored 6 goals and grabbed 4 assists in 20 appearances this season and his performances have been way below par to say the least.
Earlier we had reported that Monaco owner Vadim Vasilyev claimed that he is yet to hear from United on the future of the player.
With Robin Van Persie also struggling with injuries and Wayne Rooney primarily being deployed in midfield, Louis Van Gaal is expected to make a move for a striker in the summer.
The Dutch manager had earlier said that he won’t judge a striker by only the goals scored but United will be better advised if they splash the cash on a player who is relatively young and can take the Premier League by surprise. So is Falcao’s future at Old Trafford over?
Spanish media outlet Sport have reported yesterday that Valencia are lining up a move for Falcao if he quits United in the summer.
