CARLISLE FAVOURITES

Soft ground can throw a spanner in the works when it comes to backing favourites on the Flat at Carlisle, as the inside of the track rides slowest, favouring those who challenge wide. However, on good or quicker going it usually A-B-C stuff.

Rod Millman has his string in fine form and AMAZONIAN DREAM might be able to record a third career win in this 6f handicap. Well drawn in stall 4, the son of Bungle Inthejungle looked on his way back when fourth to Lethal Levi at Haydock last time.

That was only a Class 4 contest – he’s in Class 3 company tonight – but the three that beat him have all acquitted themselves well in a higher grade since. The winner of that race, Lethal Levi, placed at 20-1 in a Heritage Handicap at York last Saturday, runner-up Another Investment met trouble when mid-division in the same race, and third-placed Lethal Nymph, placed in Class 3 company at Sandown.

The three-year-old gets the 8lb weight for age allowance from his older rivals and has drifted to a backable price. Buy at 8 in the Spreadex 50-25-10 market or back him each-way at 11-1 in the fixed odds betting.
