Manchester United have decided to address their goalscoring problems and have initiated talks with the highly rated PSG striker Edinson Cavani.
According to L’Equipe (via Manchester Evening News), the Red Devils are in talks with Uruguayan striker and could follow up with a formal offer in the summer.
It has been reported previously that Cavani is unhappy playing second fiddle to the Swedish superstar Zlatan Ibrahimovic and would consider a move away if the right offer comes along.
Manchester United are one of the best clubs in world football and are financially well capable of putting together an attractive package.
Furthermore, signing a player of his calibre would be a huge boost for a side struggling to create and score goals.
Cavani’s link up play and high workrate would suit Van Gaal’s style of play perfectly and the PSG forward would combine well with the likes of Rooney, Martial and Depay as well.
Manchester United are in desperate need of a striker and someone like Cavani could help bridge the gap with other title rivals like Manchester City.
Edinson Cavani has scored 66 goals in his last 115 appearances with PSG and is one of the most prolific forwards in world football. At 28, there is no better time to sign the former Napoli man who is at the peak of his powers.
