Manchester United will take on Tottenham at the Old Trafford on the New Years’ Day, looking to extend their winning run to seven games.
After a stuttering start to the season, the Red Devils have bounced back strongly in the league, winning their last four Premier League matches. They have jumped 6th in the table, two points behind Liverpool. The Champions are heading into this tie on the back of a 1-0 victory over Norwich City, where Danny Welbeck scored the winner.
Defence: Moyes will likely to continue with the same back four that earned a victory over Norwich. That means Evans and Vidic will start in the centre-back role while Smalling and Evra will take up right and left back roles respectively.
Midfield: In the midfield, Moyes would hardly want to experiment here and probably will go with Tom Cleverley and Michael Carrick.
Forward: Wayne Rooney is expected to return after missing the last match with a groin injury. Shinji Kagawa and Ashley Young could get a game as well, while Danny Welbeck will start as a lone striker. Good news for the Red Devils is, Robin van Persie could make a return from thigh injury from the bench.
Prediction: 2-1; Spurs won at OT last season in years and they would be hoping for a repeat this season as well. But, United seem to have found their mojo back and expect them to earn full three points.
