After an unconvincing 1-1 draw against Stoke City on New Year’s day, Manchester United travel to Huish Park to face Yeovil Town in the FA Cup on Sunday. Yeovil are currently bottom of League One and come into the clash at the back of three straight defeats. Louis Van Gaal’s side however will be trying to keep intact their winning run but United’s recent poor away form doesn’t mean they will roll over Yeovil.
A host of the first team players are expected to be rested on Sunday while the others will be looking to make an impression on the pitch. Andres Lindegaard is expected to be under the sticks as David De Gea gets a well deserved rest. Luke Shaw and Rafael should play on the either full back role while Paddy McNair and Chris Smalling should feature in the centre back partnership in what would be a back four.
Van Gaal is expected to tinker the formation as a 4-3-3 diamond setup looks probable going into the game. Michael Carrick is expected to be replaced by Darren Fletcher while the fit again Ander Herrera could make a comeback. Adnan Januzaj too could play in the left wing while captain Wayne Rooney should start in the number ten role. Robin Van Persie too gets a well deserved rest as youngster James Wilson could partner Radamel Falcao up front.
Here is the possible Manchester United lineup vs Yeovil:
Predictions: United’s away form hasn’t been worthwile mentioning but the Old Trafford side should win this easily. I expect a comfortable 2-0 win for the Red Devils
