Manchester United would be looking to get back on winning ways after being held to a frustrating 1-1 draw against ten men Aston Villa last weekend. Louis Van Gaal’s side trail league leaders Chelsea by ten points however they can hope that the gap can be cut down as they host Newcastle United at Old Trafford on Boxing Day.
Newcastle United come on the back of a derby defeat to Sunderland last Sunday as Alan Pardew’s men will be short on confidence travelling away from home. The Magpies though clinched a win at Old Trafford last season and they would take inspiration to grab at least a point from the clash.
David De Gea has been in stunning form and will be under the sticks while Rafael is expected to take up the right back position. Johnny Evans should partner Phil Jones in the heart of the defense while Ashley Young fills in the left back role. Michael Carrick is expected to guard the back four and will have the likes of the fit again Angel Di Maria and Juan Mata on either side of him.
Club captain Wayne Rooney should play in a more deeper role as Van Gaal will look to accomodate Robin Van Persie and Radamel Falcao up front. Chris Smalling is also touted for a return but the English international might not be thrown into the action starightaway and will have to be contended with a place on the bench.

Predictions: Newcastle endured a tough week being knocked out of the Capital One Cup by Tottenham before losing the Tyne-Wear and should not pose any problems for United. The Red Devils should win this easily and I predict a 3-0 scoreline.
