Chelsea will face Manchester City on Sunday at the Stamford Bridge looking to keep their cent percent winning record at home intact.
The Blues have bounced back strongly in the league, following their 1-0 defeat at the hands of Everton at Goodison Park. Since that defeat, they’re enjoying a 7-game unbeaten run, winning six of them. Most importantly, they’ve a 100% winning record at home this season which makes them slightly favourite ahead of this big clash.
Jose Mourinho said in the press conference yesterday that left-back Ashley Cole is fit again and back in the squad ahead of Sunday’s game with Man City. Cole, picked up a rib injury at Norwich three weeks ago and missed Chelsea’s last two games against Cardiff and Schalke 04.
Apart from Marco van Ginkel who is a long term absentee, Mourinho has a fully fit squad to chose from. In the defence, Jose will have to decide – whether to continue with the defensive pair of John Terry and Gary Cahill or bring in David Luiz, who started against against Tottenham at the White Hart Lane.
In the midfield, Mourinho can deploy John Obi Mikel alongside Ramires. In big matches, extra emphasis is often laid on controlling the midfield and very few can do the job better than the Nigerian in the Chelsea team. Fernando Torres has been firing all cylinders and the Spaniard will be expected to dazzle again against City as well.
