Chelsea will travel to the White Hart Lane to face Tottenham in their second London derby of the season. The Blues earned a convincing victory over London rivals Fulham in their last league match and Mourinho will be expecting more of the same against the league leaders at the moment.
The team-selection is pretty straight forward.
In the defence, Mourinho is likely to start with skipper John Terry and Gary Cahill. He must have understood by now that using the pair of Luiz and Terry is all but a dangerous cocktail. Azpilicueta is an alien for Mourinho, so one would expect the Portuguese to start with Ivanovic, with Ashley Cole on the left-hand side.
Ramires is doubtful for this tie, due to injury picked up in the match against Swindon and therefore veteran Frank Lampard will marshal the midfield in place alongside goal scorer in the last league match John Obi Mikel.
Juan Mata might be hoping that he could impress his boss with his versatile talents, but Mourinho will go with his natural trio upfront – Oscar at no 10, Hazard on the left and Andre Schurrle on the right. Simple, isn’t it? Mata, poor chap, who was sensational last season when Chelsea defeated Spurs 4-2, will have to watch the action from the bench only.
Upfront, Mourinho will trust Fernando Torres for this tie. Strikers need confidence to flourish and after scoring goal in the mid-week, it will be foolish to shun Torres’ confidence by dropping him to the bench…
