Manchester United manager Louis Van Gaal has sent his scouts to run the rule over Porto winger Yacine Brahimi.

The Algerian has attracted a lot of interest from several European heavyweights after his splendid displays in the Champions League.

Brahimi’s pace, power, flair and goal scoring is exactly what Louis Van Gaal claimed is needed at Old Trafford. The Dutchman is keen to freshen up his attack and a player like Brahimi could make a huge difference.

Manchester United are firmly in the title race and signing a player of Brahimi’s quality could be a game changer. Manchester City and Arsenal are both inconsistent and Van Gaal is keen to make the most of it.

The Manchester United manager wants to win the title and knows that a couple of new signings could bridge the gap between them and their title rivals.

Manchester United have been outstanding defensively but have struggled at the other end. New signing Memphis Depay has struggled to fit in and Van Gaal is aiming to sign another winger to take the burden off Depay.

Brahimi has a 42 million pounds release clause and according to Portuguese media outlet Record, Brahimi is a priority target for Van Gaal and the Manchester United manager sent his scouts to check on the Porto star last Sunday.

It will be interesting to see if Manchester United follow up on their interest with a formal offer.

And if that is the case, what happens to the likes of Lingard, Depay and Young?
