Manchester City will start their European campaign tonight away to Prague, to face Viktoria Plzen hoping to progress beyond the group stages this time around.

KompanyIn the previous two seasons, City have failed to make it past the group stages and Manuel Pellegrini would be looking to change that fortune, with the Chilean having previously enjoyed success with Villarreal and Malaga.

City have got a stuttering start to their Premier League campaign, having failed to register a single away victory and further loosing against newly promoted Cardiff City. In their last match, they had to remain content with a goal-less draw away to Stoke City.

Team News

Skipper Vincent Kompany, who has been troubled with a groin injury, has travelled with the squad. However, City have few injuries issues to deal with. Micah Richards (hamstring), Martin Demichelis (knee) and Gael Clichy are all sidelined, while playmaker David Silva (thigh) is also doubtful for this tie.

Plzen, the Czech Champions could miss the services of defender Marian Cisovsky, who has been suffering a calf problem. Likewise Radim Rednik will have to pass a late fitness test ahead of this tie.

Match Facts

City have a poor away record in this competition having lost five of their six away games in the Champions League but they would take heart from the fact that no Czech sides have ever won against English opposition in this competition.
