There has been much speculation surrounding David de Gea’s future over the past 12 months with Real Madrid reportedly keen to sign the young Spanish international.
Iker Casillas’ days at the Bernabéu are reportedly numbered. The 33-year old is back in goal again for the world football giants after missing most of last season in place of Diego López.
Reports in France are suggesting that Victor Valdés could be the key to decide where de Gea is playing his football next season.
The former Barcelona goalkeeper is currently a free agent about to return from a serious injury that has kept him out since towards the end of last season. He has been training with Manchester United recently.
Real Madrid have so far been unsuccessful in their attempts to sign de Gea but should Manchester United sign the experienced and highly-rated Valdés, one would only assume their current Spanish goalkeeper would be on his way out of the club.
Le 10 Sport have quoted David de Gea claiming to be happy at Old Trafford currently:
“I am very happy here at Manchester United. For a moment I felt bad even if Sir Alex Ferguson supported me fully. I tried to be positive. What helped me to hold, is that I loved the daily drive to work and I used this work to feel better. But it is true that in the beginning it was not easy to cope with all these criticisms. Praise today gives me shivers down my spine. But I do not want to be a hero, I just want to help the team.”
