Real Madrid host Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League tonight, and all eyes will be on Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
The world-class striker has been linked with a move to Santiago Bernabeu in the past, and now his mother has fuelled further speculations by claiming that Aubameyang dreams of playing for Los Blancos.
Apparently, Aubameyang promised his grandfather that he would play for Real Madrid one day.
His mother said:
A move to Madrid would be lovely but at the moment he is doing well at Dortmund and we will have to see what happens. He promised his grandfather that he would play for Real Madrid and since he was a little boy he spoke about Madrid and never about Barcelona. My family have always been Real Madrid and I would like to see him in white.
Considering his current form, there is no doubt that he is a player worthy of pulling on the Real Madrid shirt in near future. The likes of Benzema and Morata are good players in their own right, but the Dortmund striker is clearly a cut above.
The 27-year-old Bundesliga star has scored 18 goals in 17 appearances for the German giants this season. Prior to this season, he had scored 64 goals in 95 appearances for them.
Cristiano Ronaldo has regressed a lot over the last 12 months, and it will be interesting to see if Real Madrid decide to pursue an attacker in the summer of 2017. If they do, Aubameyang is certainly a player who can improve them.
