The two Manchester clubs’ dreams of signing the much sought-after Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang are up in smoke, with the player stating that the only club he would be interested in moving to is Real Madrid. The Borussia Dortmund man was a target for Pep Guardiola at the Etihad Stadium, and reportedly also held talks with City. Previous to that, it was also rumoured that City’s neighbours Manchester United were having secret conversations with the Gabon international to negotiate a move to Old Trafford.

But the 27 year-old’s resolve is firm, according to Le 10 Sport, and will be tested only if Zinedine Zidane comes calling. “The only club that could draw me away from Dortmund Real Madrid, and nothing else now”, Aubameyang was quoted as saying.

The former St. Etienne man scored 39 goals in all competitions with Dortmund last season, including 25 in the Bundesliga. He has been the prime reason why Thomas Tuchel hasn’t found it difficult to move on from the club’s sale of Robert Lewandowski to Bayern Munich two years ago.

To sign Aubameyang though, Madrid will have to pay the mighty sum of €70 million. While the Spanish giants are never shy to splash the cash when they see a good deal, it could be a tad difficult for them to be spending that kind of money if they are unable to offload Alvaro Morata. The Spaniard was bought back by the club from Juventus this summer, and has shown that he is more than capable of coming up with the goods at the highest level.

Some notable Premier League clubs including Arsenal and Chelsea are currently in the market to buy Morata, and things could change if that deal goes through. They will have to cough up a mammoth £67 million to land the 23 year-old, and with that kind of money, Madrid could go on and work out a deal for Aubameyang.
