The Premier League trophy is on its way to Stamford Bridge as John Terry gets ready to lift it for the first time in 5 years on Sunday. A photograph of the gleaming piece of silverware was tweeted by the official account of the Premier League, with Chelsea’s name stamped on it for the 4th time since 1992, the inaugural year. It will be presented to Jose Mourinho’s men following their last game of the season against Sunderland.

The Blues have been the runaway winners this season, leading the pack right from the first day of the season. There was very little doubt about their crowning as champions. Led by the consistency of the likes of Diego Costa, Eden Hazard and captain Terry himself, Chelsea fought off some early competition from Manchester City and sealed the deal with four games to go.
The last time the trophy was in West London was back in 2010, when Carlo Ancelotti led Chelsea to a record-breaking season, as they scored 103 goals en route to being champions. Since then, the two clubs from Manchester have dominated, with United and City both winning it twice.
After last season’s 3rd placed finish, it was very important for Mourinho to make his side mount a better challenge this time. Instead, Chelsea have been the standard-bearers and no one has even come close to displacing them off the perch.
With a young and motivated squad in his hands, the Portuguese will want to establish his dominance on the league for years to come. This is the third time he is lifting the title, after his two triumphs in his previous stint at Stamford Bridge in 2005 and 2006. It certainly though, does not look like being his last.
