Jonny Evans has completed his move from Manchester United to West Bromwich Albion. The Northern Irishman, who made his debut under Sir Alex Ferguson in 2007, fell out of favour with current manager Louis van Gaal in the last year or so. He was photographed holding a Baggies’ shirt following the move worth £6 million, which could subsequently rise to £8 million with add-ons.
The 27 year-old will be captained at the Hawthorns by former United teammate Darren Fletcher. The Scot joined the Baggies in February this year after 11 and a half seasons at Old Trafford, and will be big help in helping Evans acclimatise.
West Brom got their first win of the season yesterday away at Stoke City, and some of the signings they have made make them a very exciting prospect for the season. The likes of Rickie Lambert, Jose Salomon Rondon, Serge Gnabry and James Chester have been brought in to strengthen the squad, and Evans’ addition will only further add to the quality.
“This is a great signing for the club,” manager Tony Pulis said in an interview to the official West Brom website. “Jonny brings a lot of experience and will be a big player for us – he’s a player I’ve been watching for some time. We are delighted to have him on board.”
