Chelsea have completed the signing of French midfielder N’Golo Kante from fellow Premier League club Leicester City, both the clubs have announced.

The 25-year-old has signed a five-year contract with the Blues and will become new Chelsea boss Antonio Conte’s second signing at the club following the arrival of Belgian forward Michy Batshuayi last month.

Kante will cost Chelsea in the region of £30 million, making him Leicester’s biggest transfer sale till date.

Kante told Chelsea’s official website: “I am so happy to have signed for one of the biggest clubs in Europe. It’s a dream come true for me.

“The opportunity to work with Antonio Conte, a brilliant coach, and some of the best players in the world was simply too good to turn down.

“My first season in English football was very special and now I hope to go on to achieve even more during my time as a Chelsea player. I am looking forward to meeting up with my new team-mates and helping the club achieve a lot of success.”

Kante, who played a key role last season to help Leicester City clinch the Premier League title, was offered a lucrative new contract to stay at the Foxes but appeared poised to leave the club all summer with a host of elite clubs thought to be interested to sign the former Caen midfielder.

The Frenchman failed to appear in only one league game in Leicester’s road to clinch the title in arguably the most unpredictable Premier League season and was also part of the France’s squad that reached the final of the Euro 16.

Kante is expected to claim a regular birth at Stamford Bridge straightaway this season as Antonio Conte aims to take Chelsea back to the top of English football after a disappointing 10th league finish last season.
