Manchester City goal keeper Joe Hart has come under some criticisms after his recent string of poor performances. The 26-year-old made a blunder against Scotland when representing England while he was at fault for two of City’s goal against Cardiff City, as the newcomers pulled a shock result to Manuel Pellegrini’s team at their home turf.
While the England shot stopper has the backing of the members of his national team, but the City manager has warned him that his place is not guaranteed in the side.
At such a tight pressured situation, Jesus Navas, the new recruit of Manchester City, dropped a bombshell by saying he would love to see Real Madrid goal keeper Iker Casillas at City.
In an interview with Movistar, as published in Spanish media outlet 20minutes.es, Navas said that Casillas would be a big reinforcement for City, before saying the Manchester club do have some great goal keepers and he is enjoying every moment at the club.
Navas insists that you always want the good players to play for your team. From that perspective, the importance of Casillas to his respective team is not unknown. And although City have strong goal keepers, “Iker would be a great boost/a good fit for the City (if we translate his words)”.
Well, Navas has every right to speak volumes about the Spain national team’s skipper, who has gone through a torrid period at Madrid in the last few months, as he was mostly kept on bench by the manager Jose Mourinho. But, his comments may further add unnecessary pressure and controversy within the team.
Whether or not Casillas joins city (read as Navas’ wish gets fulfilled) remains to be seen, but if Joe Hart does not improve his dwindling form, his stay at the Etihad might not last long.
