Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino is open in allowing star midfielder Mousa Dembele leave and will use the funds raised from his sale to bring in a striker in the January transfer window.
They are currently relying Harry Kane and Heung-Min Son to lead the attacking division as the latter arrived from Bayer Leverkusen earlier in the summer. The Argentine manager failed to sign Saido Berahino and all their approaches were turned down by West Bromwich Albion.
In addition to this, the former Southampton manager sanctioned the sale of Roberto Soldado and Emmanuel Adebayor, who struggled during their time at White Hart Lane.
According to the Evening Standard, Pochettino is willing to sacrifice Dembele in order to strengthen other areas in the upcoming transfer window. He joined the north London club from Fulham on a £5m deal in 2012.
The Belgium international has been a key figure in Tottenham’s midfield, until he picked up an injury against Everton earlier in this season. He was on the sidelines for five weeks and returned to action during the 2-2 draw against Swansea City before the international break.
In his absence, Spurs manager fielded Eric Dier and Dele Alli in the midfield. In addition to this, there is also Ryan Mason also as the other option in the midfield position. With Son’s addition, they have Erik Lamela, Christian Eriksen and the Korean international playing behind Harry Kane.
There are several options for backup in that front three position as well for Pochettino. Demeble has been linked with a move to Napoli in the summer. The Serie A outfit could still be interested in securing his services and they may make an approach for him in the January transfer window, which would then allow Tottenham to invest that money in bringing in an attacker.
