Borussia Dortmund midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan has informed Borussia Dortmund that he will not sign an extension this summer.

The Armenian midfielder had a splendid season and is a target for Manchester United and Arsenal. He has now informed the Germans that he wants to join Jose Mourinho’s side.

Dortmund have already sold Gundogan and Hummels to Manchester City and Bayern Munich and are reluctant to lose any more key players. The likes of Aubameyang have also been linked with a move to the Premier League.

Mkhitaryan, 27, is one of the best attacking midfielders in Europe right now and would be a major upgrade on the likes of Herrera, Mata, Rooney at Old Trafford.

He joined Dortmund for a fee of 23 million pounds back in 2013 and the German giants will now have to decide if they want to cash in on him this summer or risk losing him on a free transfer next season.

He was reported to be closing in on a move to Arsenal earlier this summer, but now BBC have confirmed his preference for Manchester United.
