Every World Cup a player comes out of nowhere to take the world by storm and become the next big thing. This year that privilege was taken by Mesut Ozil. Ever since the World Cup the transfers story about Mesut have been coming in from every direction. One minute Chelsea are the favorites to sign him the next Real Madrid are. Currently Manchester United are the favorites with some bookies placing odds of 1/5 for him joining the English side.
The thing about Ozil is that he hasn’t come out of nowhere he’s been steadily rising the footballing ladder impressing in last years U-21 Championship competition that took place Sweden, he particularly impressed in the final scoring a free kick against England. One year on and he’s doing it again on the biggest stage of them all, the World Cup, after having a great season at Werder Bremen scoring 11 goals and making plenty more assists.
Now with a year left on his contract at Werder Bremen combined his refusal to sign a deal it looks like Werder Bremen want to cash in on there starlet, with reports saying he could be sold for around 12-15 million pounds and with Real Madrid wanting to wait until next year to sign the German international it looks like Manchester United could on the verge of one of the best bargain buys in recent times.
With Aston Villa demanding Man City pay 30 millions pounds for a good but not great James Milner it just puts more focus on how good a deal this could be. As a Manchester United fan I for one is desperate to see Ozil in a United shirt next season. We have lacked a central midfielder who could score 10+ goals a season ever since Paul Scholes suffered that eye injury and reached the stage of his career where he has had to use his head more as he no longer possesses the energy of his younger years. While we do have some very good young players I think this lad could be the final piece of the puzzle.
Every since the news that United have been made favorites to sign the player I’ve been madly searching the internet reading every blog post, every newspaper article and constantly watching Sky Sports News in a desperate hope of some news. While Sir Alex Ferguson has said he is happy with his squad he surely must see the value of signing this player, who is only 21 years of age so it will keep in line with his policy to buy young. Simply put, if United sign Ozil then they will be favorites for next seasons Barclays Premiership Title.
So I appeal to both Mesut and Sir Alex to make this happen. Mesut will be guaranteed games if he joins United while if he joins Madrid or Barcelona then its a very different picture. So do the sensible thing Ozil and join Manchester United.
