Belgium manager Marc Wilmots has confirmed that Michy Batshuayi was permitted to leave the training camp in order to undergo his Chelsea medical.
The player left Belgium’s training camp just outside Bordeaux to undergo a medical examination at a nearby hospital.
Wilmots allowed Batshuayi to undergo the medical after a request from Marseille.
He said: “I just ordered the taxi.”
The Premier League giants agreed a 40 million Euros deal for the Marseille striker yesterday and he will sign a long term contract at Stamford Bridge once his country is out of the Euros.
Batshuayi turned down a move to Crystal Palace earlier this summer after the Eagles agreed a fee for him.
The 22 year old is one of the most talented young forwards in Europe right now and on paper he could be the perfect foil for Diego Costa. Chelsea struggled with the lack of depth in their striker position last season and this will prove to be a vital move for them.
Antonio Conte was thought to be looking at Alvaro Morata, but the Italian has moved swiftly to secure the services of another talented young forward in Batshuayi.
The 40 million Euros transfer of Batshuayi is now a club record sale for Marseille. The previous club record sale was that of Didier Drogba to Chelsea as well.
