Manchester United have been linked with a move for the Valencia midfielder Andre Gomes.
Earlier this month, it was reported that Gomes’s agent Jorge Mendes promised him to Manchester United if Mourinho takes over. The Portuguese manager has now been officially confirmed as the new Manchester United manager.
Now the Portuguese media (via SportWitness) are claiming that Gomes is set to complete a transfer to Manchester United, who are ‘well positioned’ to seal the deal.
Gomes has been one of the best young central midfielders in Europe this year and would be a quality addition to any club. The player was also linked with a move to Juventus. However, Manchester United have the financial muscle and the influence to beat the Italian champions to any signing.
The 22 year old midfielder is expected to cost around 40 million Euros. Considering his age and talent, that could prove to be a major bargain for the Old Trafford outfit. Manchester United are keen on signing a central midfielder this summer and the Premier League giants recently missed out on the signing of Renato Sanches, who joined Bayern Munich instead.
In other news, Jose Mourinho’s 200 million pounds transfer shortlist for Manchester United has been revealed by the reputed Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano.
Romano works for Gianluca Di Marzio and confirmed that Mourinho will spend big this summer, especially on defenders.
Kostas Manolas (£30m), John Stones (£45m), Raphael Varane (£30m) and Ezequiel Garay(£20m) are all on Mourinho’s wishlist. He also stated that the likes of Alvaro Morata (£38m) and Andre Gomes (£38m) are also on Mourinho’s radar.
