Manchester United winger Nani is close to joining Turkish club Fenerbahce. The Portugal winger could complete his move within next week, after Fenerbahce confirmed on Twitter that Nani will undergo a medical on Sunday.

It must be noted, however, that neither of the two clubs have reached an agreement over the transfer yet, although Fenerbahce have claimed via Twitter that talks are ongoing at the moment.

According to a report from The Times, a transfer fee of around 6m was being discussed between the two clubs.

Nani joined Manchester United from Sporting in 2007 for a reported fee of 25.5m. He instantly became a fan favourite at Old Trafford and earned huge success in his first five years at the club.

His form dipped gradually after 2012-13 (injury playing a part) and naturally started to drop down the pecking orders at the club. He was sent on loan to Sporting last season as a part of the deal that saw Argentine defender Marcos Rojo making a permanent switch to Manchester United.

Nani enjoyed a memorable season for Sporting last term. He made 27 league appearances and scored seven goals, however, it was still not enough to convince Louis van Gaal to include him in his squad for next season. The club is stocked with quality attacking players, and Memphis Depay’s arrival from PSV meant he wasn’t needed at Old Trafford anymore.

The Guardian reported few days back that Giuliano Terraneo, the Fenerbahce Sporting Director, had already travelled to Portugal to sort out a deal with the player’s agent. Nani was initially reluctant to move to Turkey, but in the end he decided to give it a try, as he wants to experience a different league.

Nani has already agreed personal terms with Fenerbahce, and it seems the official announcement isn’t too far away.
