According to the latest Manchester United transfer news, Louis van Gaal has ditched on-going moves for Fabregas and Kroos in favour of more familiar territory in his homeland and has at least three Dutch players as his transfer targets on the list given to Ed Woodward.
Manchester United fans are becoming bewildered by the daily revelations from the media about transfer targets only for them to be contradicted by other parts of the media.
What is certain is that Louis van Gaal is his own man and reports in the Daily Mail suggest that he has ripped up the list of targets originally proposed by sacked manager David Moyes, which included Fabregas and Kroos amongst others. Instead, he has returned to his own country for players he knows well enough who he feels he can trust to play the total football for which his previous teams have been famous. Teams like Ajax in his early tenure as manager and latterly Barcelona who has dominated European football over the last 5 years.
Manchester United Need These Three Players
Football Oranje, the English language site for Dutch football has suggested that Van Gaal is looking at three players in particular to bring to Manchester United. He is in the perfect position to judge the attributes of these players who are in the Netherlands World Cup squad. He is also well aware of the frailties at the back in Manchester United’s defence, so who better to shore that up than Feyenoord centre back Bruno Martins Indi. At just 22, here is a giant of a man standing at around 6 feet 4 inches tall. However, despite his imposing presence, he is also an intelligent and quick player, something desperately needed in today’s Premier League.
Who Is Manchester United Transfer Target Jordy Clasie?
Another player who is currently at Feyenoord is the rising star, Jordy Clasie. Everybody is talking about the wonder pass to Robin van Persie in the recent international friendly against Ecuador. However, there is much more to this boy`s game and Van Gaal has highlighted him as a top transfer target for Manchester United. Clasie has been given the rather grandiose title of the “Dutch Xavi” which maybe a little premature as he is also just 22, but his star has risen steadily since joining Feyenoord at the age of nine. so much so, that he has been included in the national team for the World Cup in Brazil by Van Gaal.
Kevin Strootman needs no introduction to football fans. The Dutch enforcer who stands at an impressive 6 feet 3 inches tall is exactly the type of midfield driving force which Manchester United has missed since the departure of Roy Keane. The deal for Strootman may be complicated by a serious knee injury picked up whilst playing for his current club, Roma. It will take a fairly sizeable offer to make the Roma officials take any notice, especially a their manager has publicly stated that after their good season and a second place finish, he wants to keep the team together. Whether Van Gaal has the pulling power to force through the deal remains to be seen.
Will Manchester United Get Their Transfer Targets?
Van Gaal will feel confidant that he can avoid upsetting Feyenoord by waiting until after the World Cup to make his move for their two players. However, the deal for Strootman might prove rather more tricky. It remains to be seen how much of the huge transfer budget he has at his disposal he will want throw at this deal if Roma play hardball.
